Class 5445
Code 5445 includes the installation of wallboard, sheetrock, drywall, plasterboard, or cement board (drywall) in private residences or commercial buildings. In the event that drywall is installed in a private residence by a general contractor responsible for the entire dwelling construction project, Code 5645 applies to the drywall installation. Code 5445 includes drywall framing, the installation of light gauge steel frame prior to hanging the drywall, whether performed by the drywall contractor, or a separate crew of the drywall contractor. Refer to Code 5102 for specialist contractors whose work is limited to the installation of the light gauge steel framing for drywall. Code 5445 includes drywall framing, the installation of light gauge steel frame prior to hanging the drywall, whether performed by the drywall contractor, a separate crew of the drywall contractor, or a specialist contractor who only performs the drywall framing portion of the drywall installation. This code includes cutting the composition wallboard to size using either a knife, small hatchet, handsaw, or small power handsaw; butting and nailing the wallboard to the studdings; taping the seams and joints; applying and sanding joint compound; and texturizing operations. Activities such as cutting, butting, nailing, taping, applying and sanding joint compound, texturizing and plastering operations are included under Code 5445 even if performed by separate crews of the wallboard contractor when each separate crew performs a separate function related to the installation of the wallboard. Code 5445 also applies to the specialist contractor who installs metal stud partition systems including metal floor and ceiling runners prior to applying the wallboard to the metal studs.
