Class 6400
Code 6400 applies to specialist contractors engaged the erection of all types of prefabricated fences, e.g., metal, plastic or wooden, regardless of the material used in the post construction. In addition to the noted materials, precast concrete or granite posts may be utilized. As noted in Code 6400’s footnote, on-site fabrication from raw materials and subsequent erection is not contemplated within the scope of Code 6400 and is to be separately rated. The classification distinction is that the contractor assigned to Code 6400 is engaged in the erection of prefabricated or preassembled fences. This classification is also applied to specialist contractors engaged exclusively in the erection of highway fences and guardrails on highway projects. Refer to Code 5506 when employees of the general contractor and/or paving contractors conduct such operations.
